Steel Rolling Commercial Service Doors

For over 35 years R&S has been manufacturing steel rolling doors. A full line of service doors including weatherstripped, insulated, aluminum and stainless steel are offered.

R&S technicians can repair and service commercial service doors from any manufacturer including Overhead Door Corp., McKeon, Windsor Republic Doors, The Cookson Company, Janus International and Alpine Overhead Doors.

  




Standard Duty Steel Rolling Service Doors

The R&S Standard Duty door is an economical yet reliable service door affording many years of maintenance free performance. Many options are offered from perforated slat to the inclusion of a pass door or grille section. All R&S doors are designed to withstand up to 80 mph winds and can be upgraded for more severe weather conditions. Curtains can be ordered in standard grey or in tan with contrasting black guides and footpiece. A galvanized steel finish is also offered providing the look and protection of stainless steel without the cost.

Standard Duty Steel Service Door Options

Increased Windload Capacity: curtain designs to withstand windloads exceeding 20PSF 
Perforated Slats: 3/64" diameter holes on 5/64" staggered centers in type 25 slats provide 30% open area for ventilation and visibility throughout the curtain 
Extruded Aluminum Curtain Type 24ET: Optional thick-line, 11 gage extruded aluminum slat for exceptional corrosion resistance, durability, strength, and beauty. Available in standard mill finish or optional anodized clear or bronze for architectural needs. 
Extruded Aluminum Curtain Type 24ES: Optional slim-line, 15 gage extruded aluminum slat for exceptional corrosion resistance, durability, and beauty. Lightweight design for use on service doors up to 16; wide. Available in standard mill finish or optional anodized clear or bronze for architectural needs.
Vision Lites: single or multiple 3" wide cutouts, open for ventilation or covered with acrylic
Intermediate Grille: partial grille curtain connecting type 30 slats above and below 
Sloped or Stepped Footpiece: for special sill conditions 
Cylinder Locks: on footpiece or guide 
Pass Door: 3'-0" x 7'-0" x 1 3/4" thick hollow metal grey primed (black optional) door in a steel frame for access through the curtain when closed; frame is hinged to guide and swings clear to allow use of entire door opening when curtain is raised; Standard hardware includes lever lock with optional deadbolt; handicap option, custom sizes, windows and special hardware available

Galvanized Finish: on footpiece, guides, brackets and barrel
Safety Bearing: This unique safety device functions as both a bearing and inertia brake for motorized service doors and grilles. The safety bearing is designed to prevent the curtain from free-falling if there is damage to or failure of the motor operator, drive chain or spring assembly. If a malfunction occurs and the downward speed increases to an unsafe rate, the inertia brake absorbs the added energy and safely stops the load.
Powdercoat Finish: a durable and decorative finish for steel or aluminum surfaces. It provides longer life and requires less maintenance than a standard finish. Powder coating is available in a variety of colors for use on many products. Consult factory for color selection, applications and limitations.

Steel slats are galvanized per ASTM standards, treated for paint adhesion and pre-finished before forming with a prime coat and baked-on grey or tan polyester top coat.

Aluminum Counter Doors

R&S Aluminum Counter Doors offer compact design and attractive appearance. Anodized extruded aluminum components combine a light weight, smooth, bright finish and excellent corrosion resistance for a variety of applications. Counter door construction can be modified to provide anodized aluminum service doors up to 12 feet wide, 10 feet high and a maximum of 100 square feet.

1.01 Summary

2.01 Materials
A. Manufacturer: R & S Manufacturing, model S ___
B. Mounting: Face of wall or between-jamb
C. Operation: Push-up is standard (awning crank should be considered when doors are to be operated over a deep counter or over 7' high). Chain hoist or motor operation are optional.
D. Curtain: Interlocking type 15 flat slats are extruded from 6063 alloy aluminum. Endlocks are riveted to slats to maintain curtain alignment. Bottom of curtain is reinforced by an extruded aluminum tubular footpiece with astragal.
E. Guides: Extruded aluminum guides are bolted to aluminum wall angles. Guides are fitted with nylon pile wear strips.
F. Brackets: Steel plate brackets are bolted to wall angles to support curtain and barrel and provide mounting for hood.
G. Barrel: Steel pipe houses torsion spring assembly and supports curtain with a maximum deflection of .03 inch per foot of width. Torsion springs are mounted on a continuous cold rolled steel shaft, adjustable by a tension wheel outside or inside one bracket.
H. Hood: Formed from aluminum sheet, reinforced with top and bottom flanges to limit deflection.
I. Locking: Slidebolt locks (cylinder locks are optional). 2.02 Finish
A. Aluminum slats, footpiece, guides and hood are clear anodized. Steel brackets receive one coat or rust inhibiting grey primer. (Dark bronze and other color anodized finishes are optional.)

3.01 Installation
A. Counter doors are to be installed by an R & S authorized representative in accordance with R & S installation instructions.

Cylinder Locks: on footpiece or guide 
Finish: standard clear anodized finish may be upgraded to mill or bronze 
Powdercoat Finish: on curtain, footpiece, and guides
Tubular Motor Operator: motors completely contained within the barrel can be provided for counter doors up to 84 square feet in limited usage applications. Only the manual crank override is visible outside the bracket. The units are available in 115 volt/single phase with constant contact one button or keyswitch control. They can also be provided with a low voltage controller when options such as a reversing edge or timer are required.

Counter Doors

Rated and Non Rated Counter Shutter Doors

R&S offers a full line of counter doors (sometimes referred to as counter shutters) including steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Counter doors offer the same security and durability of a standard steel rolling service door. The added benefit of compact design and neat appearance make this product useful in interior spaces. Most often utilized as a closure on counter openings, counter shutters may also be used on openings large enough to provide walk-thru or drive-thru access.







Steel & Stainless Steel Counter Doors

R&S Steel and Stainless Steel Doors combine strength and durability with compact design

and neat appearance. Although primarily utilized as a closure on counter openings, these

doors may also be used on openings large enough to provide walk-thru or drive-thru access.

Counter doors can be modified in construction to meet stainless steel service door

requirements up to 16 feet wide, 10 feet high at a maximum of 144 square feet.

E. Guides: Box shape guides are formed from (steel) (stainless steel).
F. Brackets: Steel plate brackets are bolted to guides to support curtain and barrel and provide mounting for hood.

A. Galvanized steel slats and hoods are pre-finished with a baked on grey polyester primer before forming. Steel footpiece, guides and brackets receive one coat of rust inhibiting grey primer. Exposed stainless steel provided with #4 finish.
